Walking Stick- Found all over the world Herbivores Some have wings 12 inches long to 24 inches long Some scientists believe they are the longest insect in the world. Malaysian Orchid Mantis- Rainforest of SE Asia Also called the walking flower mantis Mimics parts of the orchid flower Can change color Carnivorous Wolf Spider- Nocturnal with excellent eyesight Bounce on their prey Inject venom into their victims that cause: redness, pain, swelling, and itching Can live up to 11 years Reef Stonefish- Found along with the rocky coral of Australia Venomous and deadly Injects venom through sprouts out of its body Can live up to 24 hours on land Dead Leaf Mantis- SE Asia Vary in color but always the color of leaves around it Has wings that look like it has eyes all over it Mimic Octopus- Can turn any color or pattern when threatened Naturally brown but can turn red, blue, or even bright pink Can change its shape to make it look like almost any aquatic creature Dead Leaf Butterfly- Tropical areas of Asia Looks like a dried leaf Wing span is 3-4 inches The caterpillar stage is very colorful with velvety blues and oranges Pygmy Seahorse- Coral reefs around Asia Smallest seahorse measuring about 2 centimeters in height Rest in seagrasses Buff-Tip Moth- Can you spot it? Start as yellow and black caterpillars in Europe and Mongolia Fairly large for a moth and when resting looks like a broken tree branch or twig Gather in large groups Eat the bark of popular trees Tawny Frogmouth- This is a bird carefully camouflaged as tree bark Often mistaken for owls Feed mostly on insects, mice, or frogs Brown and grey coloring and most of the time people don’t realize they are looking right at them Snow Leopard- Endangered 60-120 lbs Have long tails and fur Dark grey spots and wide paws Carnivorous so they eat meat, rarely attack humans Leaf Tailed Gecko- Native to Madagascar Live about 10 years 2-6 inches Strong curled claws to hold onto branches Eat small insects
