SHAPES! Cut & finger spaced contour lines in ART

Grades: Kindergarten
Subjects: Math, STEAM, Art

Student Instructions

💫 ACTIVITY ONE: Please look at the attached shapes page. You can print it out and do the work or use colored markers in seesaw to color your shapes and draw lines to the correct name. 💫 ACTIVITY TWO: 1. Draw your own shapes on paper. If the paper is white color your shapes and cut them out. If the paper is colored draw shapes & cut them out. 2. Glue your shapes on to a white paper, make sure you leave space between them. 3. If you have a crayon, colored pencil, marker or even a pencil; leave a finger space between your shape and where you will draw your first line. Go around that shape staying a finger space away from your shape until you touch the spot you started. This is a contour line, because it follows the shape or design. You can use a different color or the same color to leave a finger space around that line you just drew. Keep doing that a few times. Then do the same around your other shapes until you have filled your page with your finger spaced lines around each shape. In this project you will see empty space and filled space. Post a photo of your art to our Seesaw class journal. If you also want to try it digitally OR if you do not have paper; click on the link to draw your own shapes, color them in & make your finger spaced design contour lines around them until you fill the screen.
