Student Instructions

How can you make connections between the ideas you are exploring in Art with the ideas you are inquiring into about How the World Works and the Water Cycle? You will need: a pencil, oil pastels and good copy art paper. This activity should take approximately 60 minutes. You can do it in stages. Watch the example video to learn how you can use oil pastel to give the illusion of the ocean depths using a blending technique. When you are ready click add for the template to get started. First you need to have an outline of the Earth on your good copy art paper. You can trace the outline in the template then transfer it as shown in the video or have someone draw it for you or use a print out of any outline of the Earth. If you don't have oil pastels you can use pencil, colour pencil or paint to create value as well. Remember to reflect on the creative process in the caption. What can you do? What have you learned? How can you use these skills in other artworks?
