Teachers, save “Properties of clothing” to assign it to your class.

WALT: We are learning about the materials used to make clothing and how clothing is designed by using properties for a specific purpose. Our clothing is designed for many different purposes. A piece of clothing could be designed for any of the following purposes: * To look good / fashionable * To feel comfortable * To keep you warm * To keep you dry * To keep you safe In this activity, you will see pictures of different pieces of clothing. * Try to think of when and where someone would wear the piece of clothing. (summer / winter, indoors / outdoors, at the beach, on a mountain, around town?) * Try to guess what material(s) the piece of clothing is made from. * Try to figure out what properties the materials / piece of clothing have There is an example given to you. The purpose of the blue jacket is to keep you warm in the outdoors (perhaps while you are hiking) Then, find an interesting piece of clothing of your own. Upload a picture and answer the questions to describe its purpose, materials and properties.
