9/11 Book Summary Activity Due Sept. 11

Grades: 5th Grade, 4th Grade
Subjects: English Language Arts, Social Studies

Student Instructions

1. Listen to the read aloud in class (review the book link attached if needed) REMEMBER TO ASK FOR HELP IF NEEDED. 2. Create a timeline in your writing journal for the book (in the Response to Text section) 3. Plan your summary using "Somebody, Wanted, But, So Then" in your writing journal. Checkpoint with someone in your group before you go on. (A Graphic Organizer is available to use.) 4. photo take a picture of your notebook planning. 5. mic Record a comment telling the steps you would take to complete a good summary as an added note to your planning picture. 6. On a piece of notebook paper, write your summary following the plan you made. You will take each part and turn it into a sentence. Make sure to use complete sentences with capitals and punctuation. This should look like a paragraph with around 5-8 sentences. 7. Turn in the completed summary to the box.
