SI Units of Measurement

Grades: 6th Grade, 7th Grade, 8th Grade
Subjects: Science

Student Instructions

1. Click add button to begin the activity. 2. Look on the packaging of several items around your house. Find 3 items with 3 different labeled measurements and units in SI units. 3. Use the label tool to list the items and their measurements in the box provided 4. Use the video tool to record the objects SI measurement and unit(number and unit) listed on the packaging and describing why those units are used on the items packaging. For example: "This bottle of hand sanitizer has a volume of 236 mL. Millilitres is the unit for volume and volume is used on the packing because it is showing how much liquid the bottle can hold" 5. Go to the next page 6. Use the label to answer the 2 questions found in the measuring cup 7. Use the pencil, pen, highlighter, or glowpen to circle the most precise tool 8. Go to the next page 9. Use the move tool to finish arranging the measurements, units, and symbols list on the right side of the page 10. Select the check when you are done.

In this activity students will demonstrate their knowledge of the SI system of measurements used in science. Teachers should demonstrate and example of a video for students.
