First enjoy listening to the story Next watch the following song to help you to remember the parts of a plant https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ql6OL7_qFgU Then discuss the following questions with an adult: How are plant parts connected? Why do you think plants have different parts? How are plants helpful to people? What more do you want to know about these plants or plant parts? This activity can be completed in two ways: 1. in your jotter write the heading: Parts of a Plant Next draw what a plant needs to survive (clue: draw the sky and the ground first) also revisit the first story - looking carefully at the illustrations Then label the different parts use the following word bank to help you: sun/ roots/rain/soil/petal/seed/stem/leaves 2. On a piece of paper write the heading: Parts of a Plant Then create a collage of a flower using recycling materials around the house Next label the different parts using the above word bank Challenge: Write a sentence explaining each part of the flower e.g. Petals: They attract animals that pollinate flowers Finally post a picture of your lovely work and/or use the microphone tool to explain the parts of a plant and their job
