Real World Microhabitat in the Schoolyard Example

Grades: 7th Grade
Subjects: Science

Student Instructions

Objective: Students will demonstrate their understanding of how different environments support different varieties of organisms by taking pictures of a microhabitat in the schoolyard. Directions: 1) Click add in the activity tab and post an illustration taken of a microhabitat in the schoolyard, using the photo camera, or file upload file options. 2) Use the label icon to add labels that identify objects in your microhabitat image. 3) Use the label icon to describe the climate, vegetation, location, and water in your microhabitat on slide 2. 3) You may use the mic icon to record a vocal explanations to any slide (in addition to the typed description) if you'd like. 4) Answer the questions on slide 3. Be sure to complete all slides, prior to submitting to your teacher. 5) Click check to submit your work to the teacher. You can click on "view instructions" to access notes on biomes, if needed.

Teacher Notes (not visible to students)

Teacher will take the class outside around the schoolyard to take pictures needed for the activity. If wi-fi is spotty, students can use their phones to take pictures then once back inside the classroom, continue the activity. If a student is absent they may use images taken from outside their home.
