Student Instructions

Click on the link to watch the introductory video of Area. On a piece of paper or in your book, 1. Draw a shape and colour the inside, to show the area of the shape you will be measuring. 2. Estimate and measure the area, saying the number and type of informal units used (i.e. everyday items, e.g. leaves, lids, lego, dice, paperclips, etc) 3. Talk about if another unit (everyday item) would be more suitable. 4. Investigate and record findings using other units. add photo take a photo of your work showing the informal units (everyday items) inside the shape. Take a new photo for each new unit you measure the area of your shape with. label or mic write or record your area sentence e.g. "My square has an area of 6 dice".
