Nonfiction Library and Gathering Sheet (Animals)

Grades: Kindergarten, 1st Grade
Subjects: Reading, Writing

Student Instructions

Let's become All About Authors! Before we begin writing our own All About books, it's important for us to study nonfiction books by other All About authors 🥰 1. Open the Nonfiction Library and click each link to read some nonfiction books on your Epic! account (you must have your Epic! logged in on your iPad already using your class code) 2. While you're reading, stop and think - what do you notice about these books? what did each author do while writing their book? what is this book teaching you all about? Once you're done reading each nonfiction Epic! book, it's time to gather some ideas for your All About books! Writers can gather ideas on what to write about by noting some animals they know all about! What animals are you an expert on? 3. Open up the next page of this assignment. This will be your "gathering sheet"! 4. Think about some animsl you are an expert on! 5. Use the drawing to draw an animal you know all about (or you can use the photo to take a picture of that animal if you can!) 6. Don't forget to LABEL your drawings or photos using the drawing or the label 7. Lastly, use the mic to tell me all about the animals you are an expert on! You can use this gathering sheet to help you with ideas on your future All About books. I can't wait to learn all about the animals you know all about!
