Let's review the different elements of a fiction story. Character traits and feelings - provides insight as to what the character is like, how they act, what motivates them, and what they want Setting - the time and the place in which the story takes place..remember the author very strategically decides these two things so notice how they add to the story Problem - the obstacles or challenges the main character faces...notice how the main character responds to them Resolution - the way things end up...notice how the main character has grown and changed from the beginning of the story Theme - the lesson of the story...what have you learned as the reader based on how the character has grown as a person while on their journey up and down the story mountain DIRECTIONS: 1. You will see four story element headers at the top of page 1. 2. Write label a definition of each story element in your own words. 3. Sort :select: the quotes in the appropriate columns after determining which story element is best supported by the quote. 4. Then on page 2, please answer the three reflection questions. 4. Press the check when you have sorted all ten of the quotes and answered the three reflection questions.
