Greek Gods and our own family trees

Grades: 6th Grade, 5th Grade
Subjects: History

Student Instructions

Can you create a family tree for your own family? How far back can you go with it? Who in your family could you ask for help? With a family tree, you should put the oldest at the top then work your way down. Spread each section out carefully otherwise it will get too wide too quickly and you will run out of space! After that, on the next page can you create a family tree with all of the Greek Gods that were worshipped in Ancient Greece? Can you include demigods (half gods) like Hercules and Achilles? Attached is an example of a family tree for the gods that the Romans worshipped. Your Greek gods family tree should start with the Primordial Gods, then the Titans, then the Olympians. Researching online and referring to ancient Greek Myths is critical here but also some Greek demigods had names that gave clues about their parents (e.g. Hercules was actually Heracles, son of Hera) so that might help you to figure some out.
