Student Instructions

"Beautiful Blackbird" is a retelling of a traditional African tale from Zambia. It is set a long ago when all birds were brightly colored, except for the Blackbird who was black from all of the colors under the sun. The other birds want to be just like him because they think he's more beautiful than any of them. He reminds them that it matters what is on the inside than on the outside. Watch, sing and dance with the video video and when you return, create your own Beautiful Blackbird and tell me what you think the book is about. 1. Click the add add response button. 2. Click on the link to listen to the story, "Beautiful Blackbird", retold and illustrated by Ashley Bryan. 3. Return to seesaw Seesaw and on the second slide, create your own "Beautiful Blackbird" using any of Seesaw's tools. When you are done, use the mic recording tool to describe what you think this story is about. 4. Click on the green check checkmark to upload your work.
