Subjects: English Language Arts, Multilingual Learners, Reading

Student Instructions

Find words in EVERY THING you do or read! Use label tool or pen to write the words you find in your everyday life! Whatever we are learning in phonics this week, see how many words you can find! At the end of the week, use mic to record yourself reading the words you found. Who has the most CORRECT words found!

Teacher Notes (not visible to students)

Whatever phonics skill we are working on for the week I have the students write words they find that represent this skill. They would write them in the jar. They should be able to read them back to themselves and spell them correctly to show they understand the skill. For example, if we are learning about long i, magic e, they should be able to find a word in something that they either read independently or in any book where there are words. They add the word to their chart. (This is would usually be done on a big poster in the classroom throughout the day, throughout the week.) ie: bike kite
