Task: Take a picture of your work and share your thoughts. Directions: 1. Tap the add add button. 2. Take a photo photo of "Draw a Scientist" 3. Tap caption to add a caption to your entry. Your caption should include a description of your image. - Describe what you drew. - Explain your initial thoughts when you pictured a scientist. 4. Tap the check check to add to your journal.

This is Part 1 of a two part activity. Students include their initial thoughts. Quick! Think of a scientist doing something scientific...the first thing that comes to mind... When middle school students are given this assignment, their responses are too often the sterotypical ideas discussed in this video. Let's break those stereotypes! If there is no overlap between how students see their future selves and how they picture a scientist, they are unlikely to aspire to become one. What is a Scientist?
