Atoms in Three States of Matter

Grades: 5th Grade
Subjects: Science

Student Instructions

1. After you have created your "jars" of the atoms in the three states of matter, glue them to the black construction paper. 2. Label which is which, solid, liquid, and gas with the metallic markers. 3. Title your poster and put your names on it. 4. Write a brief script to describe what the atoms (particles) are doing at each state. 5. All involved must participate in description. 6.Press the green add button. 7. Take a picture of your poster. Click the green button to add. 8. Then either read your description (taking turns to say your part) or type the description as a label. 9. Add to science folder and tag all involved.

Teacher Notes (not visible to students)

I had copies of a drawing of an empty jar. The students picked three of them, one for solid, one for liquid and one for gas. This time we glued fruit loops on to show what the atoms or particles looked like at each state. Then they glued these onto construction paper to display.
