Students will construct the tallest and strongest mountain using the materials provided. This mountain is to withstand a rain shower. Students explore materials provided and discuss how these materials can be used to construct a tall, strong mountain. Students use this information to design a mountain using sand, soil and rocks. Students record their design, labelling the materials, explaining how, why and where they are used. Students pour water from the watering can, to simulate rain, directly onto their mountain in the same way that can be determined as a fair test.
