This summer was very relaxing, but boring compared to my previous summers! This was the first summer that I can ever remember that I did not go away on a vacation. I love to travel, so that was kind of upsetting. However, I did go to St. Lucia last year over winter break which is why I didn't have a big trip planned. We hoped to go to San Diego this summer for a few days but it did not end up happening. So instead, I had a staycation all summer long. I spent a lot of time going to the beach since I live nearby it in Chicago. Plus, I love the beach. I prefer a beach on the ocean, but a beach on Lake Michigan will do! I read quite a few books while on the beach! I love the Harry Potter movies so I started the books this summer. I am not very far in the series yet though. When not at the beach, I read on my balcony with my dog Addyson. Addyson LOVES to be outside. So we spent a lot of time on walks, at the park, and relaxing in the sun on our balcony. I really hoped to get another dog this summer, but I am moving soon so we decided to wait. So instead, I volunteered at a dog rescue a few times walking and playing with the dogs. Living in Chicago in the summer has lots of fun opportunities to it. In addition to going to the beach, I did some other fun things too. I was able to watch the Air and Water show from my rooftop. I tried lots of new restaurants and food with friends. I went to the Old Town Art Fest. I took a cooking class with my husband. While this wasn't summer vacation but was right before the start-I went to the Taylor Swift concert at Soldier Field. (One thing you will learn about me is that I am a Swiftie!) I also took my younger cousins to the Brookfield Zoo one day in July. So while I did not get to travel anywhere outside of Illinois this summer, it was still a fun summer. I enjoyed being able to relax and sleep in a bit some days. Summer is my favorite season, but I am happy to be back at school. Plus fall is my second favorite season!
