Student Instructions

Grade 4 writers, we've been writing some poetry in class, and now from home, so it is important to set a new writing goal! Look at the attached poetry checklist and pick one goal to work on. Next, brainstorm and write some poetry, working on your goal. It is okay if you do not know how to do something now! You will learn about your goal and how to apply it to your writing in the upcoming weeks. Lesson outline: 30 minutes: 1. Read through the goals and pick one. 2. In your writing notebook (or a blank notebook), write your goal down and how you might work towards this goal (i.e. I will use strong, specific vocabulary words- I will work on and reach this goal by...). (5 minutes) 3. Independent write poetry of your choice (25 minutes). 4. Take a picture of your favourite poem and use a voice or typed caption to show how you worked towards your goal. 5. Upload the picture to this Seesaw Activity.
