Student Instructions

Read the words on the list. Sound them out slowly. The focus sounds for this book are /y/ and /z/. Then record yourself saying each word, segmenting and then blending the word together. Highlight the /y/ and /z/ sounds in each word. Tap add to open the activity. Read and listen to the instructions, in the voice instruction I give you an example of sounding out a word. Tap 3dots to open the extra menu, select the voice tool to record yourself segmenting and blending the words. Tap :highlight: to select the Highlighter pen and highlight the /y/ and /z/ sounds in each word. Tap check to add the activity to your journal.

This word list activity has been created to accompany the Ready to Read Phonics Plus series, Kākano - Zig and Zag. It should be assigned when the book first read with the students to help them learn the focus sounds and words.
