Student Instructions

As part of our learning around persuasive writing, students need to complete an assessment text. This persuasive piece should reflect ONE of the following topics: 1. VOTE FOR ME! – According to yourself, you are the best candidate nominated in the upcoming election for the Anti-Bullying Committee. Why are you the best candidate and why should people vote for you? Include information about the action you will take if elected. 2. The voting age SHOULD be reduced to 10! – There has been a suggestion to allow anyone who is 10 years old and older to be allowed to vote in elections. Why should this be so? 3. Compulsory voting SHOULD be scrapped in Australia. – Currently in Australia, all citizens who are 18 years and older must vote in elections. Fines are issued if citizens fail to comply. There have been many discussions that this voting system should be abandoned. Why should this be so? --------------------------------- This writing should include all relevant punctuation (capital letters, full stops, quotation marks etc.), paragraphs (minimum of 5 including a minimum of 4 sentences per paragraph), a sizzling start, an exciting ending and should have very clear reasons to support the stance. The writing should be a minimum of 1 page in (written) length and should be completed on their own (with no parent support) as it is an assessment piece. Students are permitted 10 minutes of discussion/planning time and then 30-45 minutes of writing time. I have uploaded a writing template for students to print off and write on . Once completed, please upload a photo/scan of the completed writing piece.
