Teacher Notes (not visible to students)
This is a simple, play-focused activity to help preschoolers name and place the four visible plant parts: flower, stem, leaves, root. Use large images and encourage children to say the part names aloud as they drag. Set up as a circle or pair activity: one child drags while a partner names the piece. No scores — give warm, specific praise (e.g., “Great! That leaf goes right there!”). Prepare printed large cards of the four parts or a felt board for an in-person extension. There are no open-ended written questions in this two-page warm-up. For any verbal or drawing extensions you ask children to do, high-quality responses will: use at least one correct part name (flower, stem, leaf/ leaves, root), show the part placed in roughly the right area (e.g., roots at the bottom), and the child can point to or touch the part while naming it. Teachers can mark these short responses as correct/incorrect when assessing naming and placement.
