Blends in Phonics

Grades: 2nd Grade, 1st Grade
Subjects: Reading, Multilingual Learners, English Language Arts

Student Instructions

A blend is two consonants whose sounds blend together. Think about a peanut butter and jelly sandwich. In a PB&J, you taste peanut butter AND you taste jelly. You taste both flavors even though they BLEND together to make a peanut butter and jelly sandwich. This is the same for blends in phonics. There are two consonants and you are able to hear BOTH of their sounds in a blend. 1. Press the green add to get to your student template. 2. On the first page, move the peanut butter and jelly jars under the blend in each word. 3. On page two, circle the blend in each word. 4. On page three, circle the face that shows how you feel after this lesson. 5. Press the green check when you are finished.
