Hands-on Activity

Slide 1: Understanding Mass and Balance Scales
1. Check the balance scale to ensure that it is balanced. Adjust as needed.
2. Take a photo of the balanced balance scale.
3. Put a glue stick in one of the buckets. Observe what happens.
4. Take a photo of the balance scale with the glue stick on one side.
5. Use the 🎤 to describe this activity. Use the required vocabulary words (balance scale, mass, and tool). This recording should not exceed 30 seconds.
Slide 2: Measuring Mass with a Balance Scale
1. Use the gram pieces to balance the scale with the glue stick.
2. Take a photo of the balanced scale with the gram pieces.
3. Add up the gram pieces.
4. Write the mass of the glue stick on slide 2.
5. Use the 🎤 to describe this activity. Use the required vocabulary words (balance scale, mass, unit, measure, and tool). This recording should not exceed 30 seconds.
Slide 3: Comparing Mass with a Balance Scale
1. Leave the glue stick in the balance scale. Remove the gram pieces.
2. Find an item that has a mass less than the glue stick. Take a photo.
3. Find an item that has a mass greater than the glue stick. Take a photo.
4. Use the 🎤 to describe this activity. Use the required vocabulary words (balance scale and mass). Include the purpose of this activity. This recording should not exceed 30 seconds.
