Writer’s Workshop #9.5 - Interview your character

Grades: 1st Grade
Subjects: Writing

Student Instructions

Sometimes thinking like your character helps you open up your imagination and come up with even more details about him/her. Today I want you to do a role play. You will act out an interview with your character. For this role play, you pretend to be your character from the book. You can ask a partner, family member, or even stuffed animal to interview you! They’ll ask you questions like: What is your favorite thing to do? Who is your best friend? Where is your favorite place? And more! Practice first. Next, use the seesaw video video tool to record your interview. When you’re done, click the green check mark check to share with the class! When you’ve got some good ideas, you can use those ideas to make your writing even more detailed and creative! You can also comment on your classmates’ interview videos and help one another get more ideas on what to write about your characters. The more details, the better the story!
