Writing Routine: Daily Captain's Log

Captains keep track of everything in their Captain's Log while they are at sea and leave some interesting stories and notes for everyone to read. It's your turn to take charge and write about everything you see! 1. 🤔 Think about everything that happened today. What were the best moments? The hardest moments? How did you get past those tricky times? Who made your day special? 2. add Tap the add button 3. note Tap the note button to write down your log for the day, answering the questions above and anything else you want to add. You can also keep your log in a journal and then take a photo photo of the page, too! 4. check Tap the check to save. Family Why: Writing daily gives children the chance to get comfortable with capturing the world around them and more confident in their skills of finding a story.

Teacher Notes (not visible to students)

This activity encourages students to reflect and write daily while learning at home. You can incorporate it into a writing special writing folder so all the "captain's logs" are maintained in one place. You could also encourage families to participate and write, doodle, draw with their child in the daily log or exchange daily messages and thoughts. CCSS.ELA-LITERACY.CCRA.W.10
