Student Instructions

JunkBots: Robots from Recycled Materials Challenge 👾 Make a robot out of recycled materials. Imagine that your JunkBot will help people or the environment in some important way. You will need to collect supplies before you start this activity. Ask your family for help. The supplies should be mostly recycled items such as: paper towel rolls, empty cans, cereal boxes, milk containers, empty plastic bottles, bottle caps, cardboard, cups, etc... Other items you may use include: tape, glue, paper, markers, paper clips, toothpicks, foil, etc.. Steps: 1. Gather & clean your materials. This may take several days. Choose a spot in your house where you can work on this project. It might get a little messy. 2. Sketch a design of your robot. What does it need to do its job? 3. Begin by building the main body of the robot. Then add other parts. This may have to be done in stages to let things dry or to find more materials. 4. Give your JunkBot a personality. What will you name it? 5. Once you are satisfied with your design, add a photo or a video of your JunkBot to this activity. 6. Describe what it is made of, how you made it, and how it helps people or the environment in some important way.
