This is an introductions lesson. Picking apart the poem, understanding some of the phrases and figurative language meaning.
Read the attached teaching slides and then complete the following tasks:
TASK 1 - Finding Winter as a powerful thing
Use the highlighting tool in different colours to show Winter being shown as a powerful thing that are used throughout the poem. Use the voice recorder
to say why you think these phrases are powerful images of winter, including your most powerful!
TASK 2 - Showing Figurative Language
Find examples of figurative language in the poem and add them to the table using labels
use the voice recorder
to explain your choices further. Don't forget to zoom in at the top left on the template to see the sheet more clearly!
EXTENSION - Complete the extended poetry response sheet using labels
add a voice recording
to add any further thoughts
Finally, complete the exit ticket to say how you found the learning!
