Student Instructions

1. Learn about the creation of Jazz Music by Louis Armstrong and other African American musicians. 2. Click the link to watch each video about Jazz, Louis Armstrong, improvisation, and scatting. Notice when you watch the second video when Louis Armstrong scats by singing made up sounds, and when he improvises with his trumpet. Notice when the saxophone player stands up to take a solo. 3. Click add 4. Make your own Jazz. You can improvise with hand percussion, on pots and pans or boxes. You can sing by improvising (making up on the spot) sounds with your voice. 5. Use the video or mic to record your music. 6. Click check to turn in your work.
