Student Instructions
The letter “c” has two sounds- a “hard” and a “soft” sound. If the letter after the “c” is i, e, or y the “c” makes the /s/ sound (soft sound). If it’s any other letter, the “c” makes the /k/ sound (hard sound). The hard sound of “c” occurs most often.
In this activity you will be sorting words into categories - hard or soft.

I created this activity to accompany the Better Start Literacy Approach, Week 15: hard and soft "c" learning activities. It should be assigned after a focus session with the teacher where discussion of the /k/ and /s/ sound of the grapheme "c".
