(A8) Magnetic Fields

Hands-on Activity 1. Put the bar magnet under the magnetic field viewer. Move the iron filling around until you see the entire magnetic field (like the picture). Take a picture. 2. Put the ring magnet under the magnetic field viewer. Move the iron filling around until you see the entire magnetic field (like the picture). Take a picture. 3. Put the horseshoe magnet under the magnetic field viewer. Move the iron filling around until you see the entire magnetic field (like the picture). Take a picture. 4. Put the cow magnet in the magnetic field viewer for a 3-D view. Move the iron filling around until you see the entire magnetic field. Take a picture. 5. Watch the Bill Nye video clip on magnetic fields. Required Content o Picture of magnetic field of each magnet (bar, ring, horseshoe, and cow) showing that magnets are the strongest at the poles o Picture of Earth’s core and magnetic field o Purpose of the activity/what you learned Required Vocabulary o Magnet o Pole o Magnetic Field o Attract o Magnetic (iron filings) Seesaw Directions 1. Go to Seesaw Activities. Select #6 Make a Magnet. 2. Click Add to open the template. 3. Follow the directions on each slide. 4. Plan your recording before you click on Record. Include the required content and vocab words. You can draw/point while recording. Your video cannot exceed 1 minute. 5. Stop recording and click Done. Preview your video. Check off the required content as you watch your video. If you did not include the required content, record again. 6. When you are happy with your video, click the green check.
