Teacher Notes (not visible to students)

This activity practices reading fluency and comprehension with a short, sensory story about rain in a tropical place. Use the reading fluency recording to assess students' accuracy and expression. No special prep is needed beyond a device with a microphone for recordings. For partner or group work, students can pair up to discuss answers before recording. For the Paragraph open-response: a high-quality answer describes a part of the story clearly, uses details from the passage (for example, mentions rain, the bunny, or the bikes), and explains why the student chose that part. For the Show It multimedia response: a strong submission shows the scene or explains feelings with at least two details (picture, drawing, or short voice/video) and uses clear sentences or labels if drawing. Teachers can mark these as correct if students include story details and a clear explanation; mark incorrect if responses lack connection to the passage or are missing explanation.
