LI: I am learning to decode less familiar words. SC: I can blend and stretch the word. I can chunk word parts. I can say the first few sounds of the word. I can skip the word and hop back. I can reread and try the word again. I can look at the pictures (if there are any). I can find smaller words hiding in a big word. I can see a word part I already know. I can identify a suffix and/or a prefix. I can break down a compound word. What decoding strategy/strategies did you use during sustained reading today? Choose a strategy from the Success Criteria above. Use that strategy when you come across a word that is difficult to pronounce. Fill in the table.
