Lesson 22 Suffix -ly

Grades: 2nd Grade
Subjects: English Language Arts

Student Instructions

Let's learn about the suffix -ly! The suffix changes the meaning of the baseword to mean "in a certain way". For example, the word "seriously" means "in a way that is serious". The coach spoke seriously to the team before the big game. For base words ending in y, there is a spelling change. For example, the word "heavily" has the base word "heavy" and the "y" is replaced with an "i". During your reading, make a list of the words you find with the suffix -ly. Click add to begin. Next, click label to type the words you find in your reading this week. Click mic to record yourself reading the words, and finally, click check to submit your assignment.
