Let's learn about the suffix -ly!
The suffix changes the meaning of the baseword to mean "in a certain way". For example, the word "seriously" means "in a way that is serious". The coach spoke seriously to the team before the big game. For base words ending in y, there is a spelling change. For example, the word "heavily" has the base word "heavy" and the "y" is replaced with an "i".
