Many Māori communities have a deep understanding of our country’s plant and animal cycles. Since arriving in Aotearoa more than five hundred years ago, Māori have observed these activities and linked them to the movements of the sun, moon, and stars. They have used this knowledge to create the maramataka – the Māori calendar. INSTRUCTIONS: 1. Look at the pictures that are attached to the task very closely. 2. Open the template that is provided for you. 3. Can you work out what is happening in each illustration? 4. Write down on the template what you think is important/what activities are done for each month looking at these pictures. 5. Post your learning to Seesaw.
