Student Instructions

We have to work every day to learn new things and keep trying even when it's hard. Being able to say we don't know how to do something, YET, is powerful. We can do it, if we keep trying. 1. add Tap the add button. 2. label Use the label tool to share something on the first line that you can't do YET, but want to learn. 3. label Use the label tool on the second line to tell me HOW you are going to achieve this goal. 4. Record yourself reading your statement. For example, I can't read chapter books YET. But, if I read every day and try new words I will be able to! 5. check Tap the check button to save to your journal. 👨‍👧 Family Why: Having a growth mindset helps students try new things and recognize the importance of effort and hard work.

Encourage students to try new things even if it is hard while they are learning at home. Families can help support growth mindset by encouraging their children to try new things and celebrate mistakes and effort. Our brains grow so much when we try new things and make mistakes. CASEL - Self Awareness - The ability to accurately recognize one’s own emotions, thoughts, and values and how they influence behavior. The ability to accurately assess one’s strengths and limitations, with a well-grounded sense of confidence, optimism, and a “growth mindset.”
