Grades: 2nd Grade, 3rd Grade
Subjects: Science

Student Instructions

Florida manatees are large, aquatic mammals that are native to Florida. Adult manatees are typically 3 meters (10 feet) from snout to tail and weigh around 1,000 pounds. Baby manatees are 1.2 - 1.4 (120-140 centimeters) long when they are born. You are going to work with your group to make a life-sized model of a baby manatee. We make models when we develop a physical representation to explain an object or living thing. Anything that is not real but is a representation of an actual thing can be called a model. When making models, you have to make careful observations of the real object or living thing. 1. Gather your materials (roll of paper, pencils, erasers, meter sticks, and colors). 2. Work with your group to develop a plan for making your life-size model of a baby manatee. 3. Take a photo photo of your baby manatee model. 4. Click add to open the template. 5. Upload upload your photo photo. 6. Use the mic to record a summary of your model. 7. Click the green check to save.
