Leaf Patterns

Grades: Pre-K
Subjects: Math, Special Education

Student Instructions

1. Click on the add button. 2. Say each pattern out loud. Each one is patterned by color, shape or both. (Shapes can be aspen and maple or heart and star.) 3. Use the move tool to complete each pattern. (Their are extra leaves so the last couple aren't completed by process of elimination.) 4. Click the green check to submit. Simplify: * Cover all but the row being worked on. * Only do the top and third row (ab patterns using color only) * Just have your child name the colors or count the leaves without completing the pattern. Extend: * Have your child try to find a pattern at home, inside or out (striped shirt, striped caterpillar, etc.) * Have your child draw their own pattern on page 2 of the response template. It can be as simple as different color dots or as complicated as they're capable of. * Have your child create a pattern out of materials they find at home, inside or out (big glass - little glass, or leaf - rock, etc.) Core Standards: * Math 3yr.2.5 - Identify simple patterns in the environment and begin to duplicate and extend simple patterns (for example, ababab). * Math 4yr.2.5 - Duplicate, extend, and create simple patterns (for example, ababab).
