Text and Graphic Features "The Life and Times of the Ant" gives facts about ants. Like other informational texts, it includes text features such as headings and captions. It also includes graphic features such as pictures, diagrams, tables, and timelines. These features organize information and help readers understand the topic. Sometimes a graphic feature adds information that is not presented in the words of the text. When you come to a text or graphic feature, pause to think about how the information helps you understand the topic or adds to your knowledge of the topic. Look at Sand Trap of No Return on page 420.
