Student Instructions
All species of sea turtles are threatened, endangered, or critically endangered. Sea Turtles are protected through Florida laws. Vulnerable means animals that may soon become endangered. Vulnerable animals have experienced a 30% to 50% population decline. Endangered means animals that are in danger of dying out in the wild. Endangered animals have experienced a 50% to 70% population decline. Critically Endangered means animals that are at high risk of dying out in the wild. Critically endangered animals have experienced a 80% to 90% population decline. Extinct means animals that are no longer living anywhere on Earth. Extinct animals no longer exist as a species. Hands-on Activity 1. Follow the Learning Sequence. On step 3, you will click the link to learn the status of each sea turtle. Record the status below. 2. Click Add Response to open the template. 3. On slide 1, organize the vocabulary words by seriousness in the table. Match the definitions and population loss to each vocabulary word. Be sure to include an introduction, the required content and the required vocabulary words. 4. Record a summary of the chart using the required vocabulary words. 5. On slide 2, classify the sea turtle status. 6. Record a summary of the status of each sea turtle. Be sure to include the purpose of the activity. 7. Listen to your recording while completing the self-assessment. Re-record or write sentences in the caption if needed. 8. Click the green check to save.
