Grades: Pre-K, Kindergarten
Subjects: Special Education, English Language Arts, Math

Student Instructions

1. Click on the add button. 2. Use the move tool to rearrange the frogs. 3. Put them under the line in order of size (smallest to largest or largest to smallest.) 4. Do all five pages. Be sure to use "size" words (big, little, bigger, littler, biggest, littlest etc.) when talking about the activity. 5. Click on the green check to save your work. Simplify: * Do only the first 3 pages. These items are arranged to line up at the bottom so you can see their sizes. * If arranging 6 objects by size is too difficult, just ask your child if they can show you a "big" frog and/or a "little" frog and let them point. Be sure to use the same "size" words on each page to make your request clearer. * If your child is not yet ready for size comparisons, make this a language activity and they/you can name the pictures and their colors. Extend: * Be sure your child does the last three pages where the items are all vertically centered so it's more difficult to see the size comparison before they start moving them. * If you've already done some of the life cycle activities, see if your child can tell you the life cycle of the frog, flower or butterfly. * Use a variety of "size" words to see if your child recognizes the similar meanings. So instead of just "big and Little" use, "large and small", "taller and shorter", etc. Learning Opportunities: Math 3 yr.3.1: Identify and describe measurable attributes (for example, big, small, tall, short). Math 4 yr.3.2: Directly compare two objects using measurable attributes (for example, length [longer/shorter], weight [heavier/ lighter], and size [bigger/smaller]). Math 3 yr.3.3: Sort objects into given categories including color, size, shape, etc. FA 3 yr.4.2: Recognize basic colors (for example, red, yellow, blue, orange, purple, and green). ELA 4 yr.1.2: Use nouns, verbs, prepositions, pronouns, and ADJECTIVES when speaking with others. ELA 4 yr.1.4: Describe attributes (like size) of familiar people, places, things, and events.
