STEM Journal

Grades: 4th Grade, 6th Grade, 5th Grade
Subjects: STEAM

Student Instructions

Use this STEM journal to document what you discover in today's exploration. There are 4 pages. The first page is where you detail what the challenge was. Use the label tool to write out the challenge in your own words and then add any questions you and your group have about the challenge. On the 2nd page, use the photo to upload upload or take a picture photo of your brainstorming. How are you planning to approach this challenge? One page 3, document your designs. Remember that engineers fail forward, so you should have multiple pictures that show your progression of learning. Again use either the upload or photo to add pictures. You can also use the label label tool to add notes of what worked or did not work for each design. Finally, on page 4, reflect. What did you learn? Use the label tool to reflect on what you learned from this STEM exploration.

Teacher Notes (not visible to students)

This is a basic STEM journal outline that I'm modifying for different tasks. It is a good way to get students to document and reflect on the engineering design process.
