Have you ever thoughtπ€¨ about having a home amongst the trees? What about actually in a tree!π€ͺ We are going to look at what materials we have available and then come up with a design that fits our brief. To have a dwelling that can be constructed in the trees. Students might bring from home or look around their school grounds for a branch or limb that has a favourable characteristic for building a dwelling in (some sort of fork or cluster of branches). The branch shouldn't be more that 30-40 cm high. It will need to be fixed to some sort of base, as shown in the link example. Step 1: When you are ready check the response and select the design page. Using the tools and shapes you can design a potential tree house. Regularly go back to your available materials and review if your design reflects what you have available. Another design opportunity is to take a of your tree from a side profile and then use this a template to create your tree house design on, again using the tools and shapes. Step 2: When you are happy with your design begin the construction of your treehouse. Try to be thoughtful of how your materials will go together. You could use string, thin wire and hot glue. When you have completed take a few and use the or a sort and explain the features of you design. REFLECTION: Did you have any problems with your design? What difficulties did you have in the construction process? How practical would your design/treehouse be in the real world? π€‘What do you call a two-week celebration of tree houses, couch cushion lean-tos, and cardboard box buildings? πΉ A fortnight.
