Student Instructions

1. Study the first slide. Look at the different ways we can make groups of ten. 2. Look at the sets of numbers. Find the groups of ten. 3. Use the pen tool. Circle the numbers that make a group of ten. 3. Find the total by using the highlighter tool to fill in the numbers in the ten frame. For each new number, use a DIFFERENT COLOR. Be sure to fill in the numbers that make a group of 10 FIRST. 4. Use the label tool. Write an equation to show the total.

Teacher Notes (not visible to students)

This is a scaffolding activity that will help kids who are working on adding more than 2 numbers. They will be able to use the strategy of finding groups of ten to make adding sets of numbers easier.
