My OWN Composition (music) - Mi, Sol, La (2 & 3)

Student Instructions

This is a multi-class period activity Day 1 - Compose a rhythm pattern that you like. move the rhythm pieces into the boxes and clap out and say the rhythm. once you have created a rhythm that you like - video record yourself performing (clapping and saying) your rhythm SAVE your work as a draft by clicking on the draft icon Day 2 - Add notes (a song) to your rhythm pattern. We will use Mi, Sol, and La for our compositions. Copy your rhythm pattern onto a piece of paper. Then go to the xylophone app located at https://scratch.mit.edu/projects/436696382/embed Under each note (IN PENCIL), write in 3, 5, or 6 (for mi, sol, and la). Try playing your pattern on the xylophone. Change your notes around until it sounds the way that you would like it to. THEN, go to page 2 on your composition, and add a photo picture of your work. SAVE your work as a draft by clicking on the draft icon Day 3 - Its time to perform our songs. Practice saying your rhythm while you move your hands with the curwen hand signs for Mi, Sol, and La. On page 3 - take a video video of yourself saying your rhythm as you move your hands. If you are at home, you may SING your song (saying Mi, Sol, and La) as you move your hands. SAVE your work as a draft by clicking on the draft icon Day 4 - Lets put this music onto the staff for the final step. On page 4 - Drag the Mi, Sol, and La icons onto the staff and place them in their proper positions. Add stems (the lines for the notes) so that they represent the proper rhythms. Click the check green check to submit your final work!
