This is our next activity on the book 'Ug' We are going to use parts of the story to create a setting. A setting tells the reader where the characters are by describing sounds, sights, movements and feelings before any of them start to speak. In Ug the illustrations show us where the action is taking place. Look really carefully at the picture at the start of the story. Use the questions on the second page to organise and plan your ideas. You can type straight into the boxes or draft on to paper and upload a picture of your work. Where is Ug before he starts to speak? How is he feeling? What can he see around him? What can he hear? Who is coming towards him? Then on the next page draft out your setting - you can either use and type straight on to the page or you can do complete this on paper and upload a photo of your work. Try and draft interesting and descriptive sentences using expanded noun phrases like this one below to create a paragraph describing the setting of the story. e.g In a dark, gloomy cave in the side of a grey mountain, lived a stone age family. Use a thesaurus to find more interesting words if you have one. Enjoy!
