Share an example of one of your family stories. Students and families will enjoy learning more about you and feel more confident in sharing a family story with you. Retelling stories helps readers remember what happened in the story, develops a sense of story structure, and let's us know what they comprehend. This is a great activity for building oral language, self-awareness, positive identity and for getting to know your students/families.
