Student Instructions

Let's try the Mystery Seed Socks Experiment! To protect your feet, put on a pair of flip-flops or sandals and then pull an old pair of grown up socks over your shoes. Go for a walk in a field or in the woods. Seeds, brambles, and burrs will stick to your socks. At home, remove the socks and examine the seeds. How many different seeds do you find? You might even try planting the socks in a pot of dirt. Place it near sunlight and water lightly every day. See what mysterious plants begin to sprout. Take a photo picture of your seed covered socks to post for me to see. You can use the mic to tell about your discoveries if you wish. Use the check green check to save your work.

This experiment was found in the book What Kinds of Seeds are These? by Heidi Bee Roemer. This is a great book to share with young children to help them learn about different kinds of seeds.
