Student Instructions
Develop theme ideas: One way to develop theme is to analyze your flags and find several that can be connected in some way. Then think about a central idea that holds these ideas together. Play around with ideas and phrasing until you have an idea about one of the themes. You are using YOUR evidence to draw a conclusion about theme! Alternatively, you can ponder and develop a theme first based on your thoughts about the book. Then, you need to find specific pieces of evidence to support your theme. You may find ideas in your flags, jots, or directly from the book.
