Coding a trip to the Zoo

Grades: 4th Grade, 5th Grade, 3rd Grade

Student Instructions

1. Open the activity. 2. Select the draw tool. 3. Use the➡️⬅️⬆️⬇️ to plan a trip to the zoo. 4. Visit the animals in ABC order!

Teacher Notes (not visible to students)

I did this after activity after we did a physical coding activity at a word work station using the Bee Bots and pictures of the zoo animals. They had to code the Bee Bot robot planning the algorithm and then using arrows on a wipe board to record the program. Vocabulary: Algorithm- a list of steps to finish a task. Program- an algorithm that has been coded for a machine to read. Debugging- finding and fixing problems in an algorithm or program. Pair Programming: Programming with a partner 1. Be respectful. 2. Talk to each other about the work. 3. Explain wheat you are doing. 4. Think ahead; make suggestions 5. Switch roles often.
